Roy Watanabe
San Francisco architect and draftsman – started out in the office of Vincent Raney circa 1940. Deported to a Japanese internment camp in 1942 and after the war surfaced in the East Bay in a three-person office on San Pablo Avenue. The bulk of the drawings featured here are from the 1950’s and spans residential, commercial and institutional projects. All the drawings appear to be by the hand of Watanabe which indicates his skill as a delineator and that he was the go-to guy when a rendering was needed for a proposal.
